Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. For a child from Irish heritage surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family, they had innate talents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh an area in Dublin the capital of Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Her mother, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a talented contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin as well as owned a part of the well-known Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out the wonderful family. Maureen enjoyed playing sports as a kid and was a pro in athletics. Her passion for sports was matched by an equally natural aptitude to perform. This was apparent that she was the winner of each Feis for theatre and drama the Irish had to offer. When she turned 14, she was invited into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre and operatic singing.
